NYC Lack of Catering Chefs

It is an issue that has been happening in the restaurant world for years. The shortage of skilled chefs suddenly boiled over into a full existential crisis that will affect how and what we eat.

Corporate Catering nyc
It is not just high-end dining rooms that are struggling to fill catering staff positions. New restaurants are opening at an unprecedented rate, but recent researches says that 51% of catering colleges have seen enrolments drop, in an industry which, by 2020, will need a predicted 11,000 new chefs. This lack of great chefs and the pressure to pay them higher wages is already changing the way we eat.
Catering staff NYC are opting for the short-term perks of agency work. Chefs no longer knock on a door, looking for a job, saying I’ll work for a day free. They go to an agency and wait to be called for interviews with their minimum wage.

In ambitious restaurants that serve technically complex food, as staff costs rise, so will the price of dinner.

Julia Valler - Menu Ideas and Tricks for Corporate Events

Every event deserves special attention, which is why we tailor our menus to perfectly reflect your vision. Food on Business meetings should leave the audience energised and focused.  For Corporate Catering nyc It’s important to remember that healthy doesn’t mean boring or tasteless.

Menu Ideas - Keep the sandwiches and wraps for your meeting or working lunch small and light. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or trans fat so everyone can stay awake and attentive. Superfoods like sweet potatoes, quinoa, broccoli and mixed nuts are also good options to serve.

Lunch Box - Modern workplaces can be mobile and flexible, so depending on the meeting and the event, you can serve boxed lunches and food with event bartenders nyc that your guests can grab and go.

Drinks & Desserts - it’s always nice to provide something sweet. A simple platter of brownies or cookies and some fruit can solve the problem. While it’s important to serve coffee and tea, offer some bottled water and fresh juices to offer some variety.

How Tech is Progressing the Event Planning Industry

As the event planning or nyc catering company industry grows in scale and complexity, the implementation of technology shifts from being a business supplement to a necessity. The ability to automate and streamline operations, and connect with audiences through a virtual world are just some of the factors that separate the elite event planners from the rest.

As a booker, manually checking in staff can prove to be a tedious task. When there are 40+ employees coming in at different call times, text messaging or email can be cumbersome to handle which leads to inefficiency. Luckily, there are applications that simplify this process and automate checking in with a click of a button. Now the booker and staff can have accurate check in times that can be shared with anyone at any time!

We are in the day and age where information is being absorbed at the speed of light. User engagement through social media platforms grow our audience by sharing our aesthetic and forming a social personality that followers can identify with. A consistent flow of material lets potential event staffing nyc staff know if their personality and appearance aligns with what we’re looking for and further promotes our wonderful clients. Do not underestimate the power of a like!

How to Create a Guest List

Creating a guest list is one of the first things that you do when you get engaged. The people on this list are the people you will remember forever because they witnessed your special day. Guest lists can get extremely long which makes for a costly wedding. However, there are some tips that you can use to limit the time and frustration when creating this list.

Corporate Catering nyc

1.     Sit down with both sets of soon-to-be in-laws and create a master list with every single person that you would love to invite. You can use this later on to pick and choose the people that will actually receive an invitation.
2.     Get quotes from a variety of different venues regarding the minimum and maximum guest count and price per person. Be realistic and discuss a maximum number of guests so there are no surprises when it is time to pay the bill.
3.     Mark everyone on your master list who are VIP’s with a star. These people are generally family and your closest friends.
4.     Decide whether you want to give single guests a plus one and whether children are invited.
5.     When creating your “final” list, begin with your VIPs and keep families and couples together. This will help a lot when you move on to create your seating chart. Keep adding on people based on importance until you approach your maximum.
6.     Don’t let guilt or obligation force you to add people onto your list. Just because they invited you to their wedding, you don’t have to invite them to yours. If that is the case, they don’t belong.
7.     Only invite within your maximum number of guests. Do not over-invite because you expect many people to not come. You never know how your RSVPs will look until it happens.

Brand Ambassadors NYC

There are many other scenarios that can occur when constructing your guest list. It is important to make strict rules, and follow them. Don’t let family or friends pressure you into inviting more people than necessary.

What to Do If It Rains on Your Wedding Day

It’s no secret that no matter how much you plan, your wedding will never go exactly to plan. It is very important to be flexible, expect last minute changes, and arrange back up alternatives. One of the biggest concerns that bride and groom to be have when planning an outdoor ceremony is whether the weather will cooperate with them. Depending on your location, the weather can be very unpredictable, and it is important to think of creative ways with event staffing nyc to make your event a success even if it rains. And hire catering companies nyc as well. Always remember that a gloomy day does not have to set the tone for a gloomy wedding ceremony.

1.     Enjoy your day and have a good attitude!

Stay positive and don’t let it ruin your day. The Bride and Groom’s attitude will set the tone for the attitude of all your guests. If you are light hearted and enjoy the messy situation so will your guests.

2.     Arrange for a Plan B: Hire vendors that will accommodate last minute changes.

The first alternative that most people think of is to have a tent on standby. If it is not possible to have a backup indoor venue, then a tent is a good alternative. Experienced vendors will be prepared to handle the rain and alleviate a lot of your stress.

3.     Buy appropriate rain gear for your guests.

Make it aesthetically pleasing. Buy coordinated umbrellas for your guests and rainboots for the bridal party. Your photographer will be able to get great pictures of your ceremony with guests holding matching rain gear. In addition, buy clear plastic tarps to put on top of displays that you do not want water touching.

4.     Make sure all your makeup is waterproof.

Always be prepared and make sure your makeup is waterproof. If possible, hire your makeup artist and hairstylist to remain with you for the duration of the wedding for touchups.

5.     If you’re not comfortable doing your outdoor wedding photos that day, reschedule them.

Your photographer, and the venue, will understand that the weather was not a part of your plan and will accommodate you when rescheduling a time to capture the perfect wedding pictures.

6.     Don’t be afraid of the rain.

Don’t be afraid of getting wet. It is almost guaranteed that you are going to get a little wet, so when it is time to change into another outfit, throw away your umbrella and get pictures when you are drenched. It will make for a beautiful memory.

How to Pick the Perfect Venue

Picking a venue is one of the most important decisions to make because it will determine the budget, convenience, and ambiance. When deciding on a venue for your event staffing nyc with corporate catering nyc, it is important to take a variety of factors into consideration.

Set a Guest List: The first thing to determine is the amount of guests that you will be expecting to attend your event. This will limit your choices and help you decide if a destination event is possible.
Determine a Budget: Setting a budget will either limit your choices or expose you to a large number of venues. Either way, it is very important to be aware of your budget at every step in the planning process.
Setting a Date: Determining a few possible dates will allow you the ability to find a venue that will suit your conditions. It will also help you decide whether an outdoor event is possible due to the specific weather conditions in your geographic location.
Don’t Book the First Available Venue: It is very important to make an educated decision when booking your venue because the deposit is rarely refundable. Visiting a wide variety of venues will ensure that you are choosing the perfect to suit your expectations and conditions.
Ensure Professionalism: The ambiance of the venue can affect the success of your event. It is important to get a good feel from the venue and event planning staff. The event will only run smoothly if the staff is qualified. It is vital to ask as many questions as possible and it is always beneficial to ask for referrals from past clients.
Decor: Lastly, with equal importance, you should look at pictures from past events and decide the extent that additional decor will be required. Decor can significantly increase your budget and limit your possibilities.

These are only a few of the factors that should affect the decision process of choosing an event venue. There will always be more questions and possibilities to explore given the nonnegotiable conditions that you require for your event.

How To Find A Caterer For Your Wedding

When it comes to wedding or Corporate Catering NYC  there so many different options that it can be an overwhelming experience instead of being a pleasant journey. Prior to even looking at different catering companies NYC options and requesting quotes, bride & groom should reserve a venue. Most of your wedding vendor choices will depend on the venue that you select.

For example, there are venues that offer packages that include food, beverage, rentals and staffing and there are venues that are raw spaces where you have to bring everything in. Of course it is easiest when the venue provides everything, it is also much cheaper, however, you give up the control and have to use standard menus and rentals. Note that if you reserve a venue that includes catering service and decide to bring in a different caterer instead, they might or might not allow it and there definitely will be a fee associated with it. So if you want to have a freedom to select your vendors, it is best to rent a venue that doesn’t provide any additional services.

We hope you found this helpful and wish you to enjoy every step of your wedding planning process.

Why should you have an Office Holiday Party?

We will give you 3 reasons why you must have a holiday party for your employees, here we go:

#1 Build Relationships - Your work space should be filled with harmony and good vibes. Your employees should have a chance to get to know each other. Sometimes your work environment is fast paced and stressful making it hard to have the chance to know the person sitting right next to you. A holiday party is the perfect environment to actually “meet” your coworkers and build those relationships.

Staffing

#2 Appreciation - Your employees will feel valued and appreciated. It’s always good to recognize their hard work and contribution to the company. No need to buy them gifts, you can simply have a short day of work followed by a nice cocktail reception as your form of appreciation.

#3 Long Term Employees - This is a dream that can become true. Having your employees work for you for a long period of time is the key to the success of your business. They know the company policies, the system(s) and the clients. This is all possible if you follow the first 2 steps. By feeling appreciated and building those relationships with their coworkers, they will more than likely keep their job longer.

Happy Holidays and enjoy your parties!

Staffing for Event Planners - DO NOTs part IV

This is getting serious, so here’s part IV of our new series: DO NOTs for Event Planners. The success of an event depends on many things like Brand Ambassadors NYC, but Promotional staff New York is one of the most important components of any event.

Not providing Event Information for Staff

It is very important to provide the staff with enough information about the event. Well-informed staff will ensure your event is a success and they will be prepared to answer any questions. Not just because you want them to know what they are serving / representing, but they also feel more confident and engaged.

We hope you’re enjoying our DO NOTs for Event Planners.

Event Planners - DO NOTs part I

We are launching a new series of DO NOTs for Event Planners. The purpose of this is to help event planners, caterers and staffing agencies to improve their booking / planning process. The first DO NOT that we would like to discuss is taking too long to book.

DO NOT take too long to book
One of the mistakes event planners tend to make when hiring Event Staffing NYC is taking too long to make a decision. While event staff understands that a lot goes into planning and executing an event, they also have their own personal schedules and might no longer be available when you decide to proceed. Most of event staff are freelancers and they work for several agencies, some are  promotional models NYC actors and dancers, their schedules can change within hours every day, so make sure you reserve the best, and most experienced, staff for your event by booking as soon as you can.

We hope you enjoy it and look out for upcoming DO NOTs for Event Planners.

INNOVATION IN STAFFING

Last week I had an exciting opportunity to present my company and services to the David Stark Design team. The theme of my presentation was Innovation, which I meditated on with my team. We have not invented staffing services; temp agencies make up a large portion of our city’s workforce and event staffing is a bi-product of that field. However, there are things that set us apart as a hospitality staffing agency.

INSURANCE. It is important for all vendors to be prepared for a Worst Case Scenario. Our clients feel way more comfortable when they find out that we are fully insured. Regardless of how many staff they book or what type of project we work on, our team is completely protected if an accident were to happen on-site.

HIRING. Sourcing talent is very important when it comes to hiring. Our talent represents various brands and also work at private residences. We have to be very selective. All of our talent come through three main sources: Promotional staff New York  referrals, model agencies and restaurateurs. Our HR department then interview the applicants and vet their skill level prior to training.

Brand Ambassadors NYC
TRAINING. Even people who have years of experience are required to go through training with us. Training has two components: Catering 101 & Event Etiquette. We want to ensure that all staff are aware of our standards before they hit the floor. We understand that training does not end here; we have a carefully designated percentage of new staff on each event, so they can learn from the experienced majority. We also have Point People on each team, that lead our staff regardless of team size. At the end of the event, the team’s Point Person completes a thorough report on the skill level on each individual staff, so we can monitor their progress and develop skills of each individual. We do not staff bodies, we staff individuals.

We strive for innovation, even if it is incremental. We constantly re-examine our process in order to improve customer experience, staff development, and our company as a whole.
